Employment:

We are looking for dynamic and energetic individuals to work at the center.

Position:          Teen Center Program Facilitator

Job Description: 

The Teen Center part-time worker, here and after “Program Facilitator”, will help the Program Director as she sees fit supervising, coordinating, promoting and administering a comprehensive, year-round offering of teen and youth programs and special events provided by and through the operation of the Teen Center (Teen Oasis).  The programming facilitator will help address the recreation and leisure needs of both Monroeville/Pitcairn residents and Gateway School District students as it relates to area of assignment and other activities as directed.

Work schedule varies according to programs, special events, and Teen Oasis offerings and meeting schedules, requiring regular evening and weekend work.  An occasional holiday may be required.

Physical handling of supplies and equipment and a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license is required. 

 Job Duties:

·   Help develop and implement all programs and special events administered by or through the Teen Oasis.

·         Help Director review existing program base for purposes of improvement, expansion, modification, or deletion.

·         Market the Teen Oasis by developing and implementing with the assistance of the Director an annual promotional and marketing plan.

·       Aid the Program Director in any aspect of the daily operations of Teen oasis

·         Other duties as assigned

Desirable Knowledge and Experience:

  • Knowledge of current and proven recreation practices and principals

     

  • Good organization skills.

     

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

     

  • Ability to lead effectively.

     

  • Experience working and administering teen programming preferable.

     

  • CPR training is desirable.

     

  • Security Clearance mandatory

 

Hours:

Sunday: CLOSED;

Monday: CLOSED

Tuesday: 2:30pm – 7:00pm

Wednesday: 2:30pm – 7:00pm

Thursday: 2:30pm – 7:00pm

Friday: 2:30pm – 10:00pm

Saturday: 2:30pm – 10:00pm

Internships:

 

General Intern Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in a degree program

     

  • Must be a sophomore, junior, senior in a four year degree program or a second year student in any other degree program

     

  • Must have current Act 33 and 34 (Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse) clearances or be willing to get them

 

  • Must volunteer at least 10 hours or 2-3 nights per week at Teen Oasis

Specific Intern Qualifications:

          Programming Intern

·        Recreation, education, and communications students are preferred but not required.

·        Interns will work directly with Teen Oasis Program Director to formulate and execute programs for teens ages 13 through 18.

·        Interns will supervise programs planned by Program Director.

·        Interns will meet directly with teens, businesses, and program providers to establish new programs for Teen Oasis.

·        Interns will work with other interns at Teen Oasis to create programs and marketing schemes for the center.

        Education Intern

·        Education, math, science, and English majors are preferred but not required.

·        Interns will work with Program Interns and outside educators to formulate educational programs for Teen Oasis.

·        Interns will serve as tutors/homework helpers at Teen Oasis.

        Advertising/Public Relations Intern

·        Advertising, public relations, journalism, and communication majors preferred but not required.

·        Interns will work directly with Teen Oasis Program Director to set up advertising campaigns for Teen Oasis.

·        Interns will work with Programming Interns to create marketing schemes for the programs at Teen Oasis.

·        Interns will make connections with local media outlets, political figures, and businesses that publish, support, provide programming and fund Teen Oasis in order to promote programs and contributions.

·        Interns will help prepare a weekly newsletter for parents.

Graphic Design Intern

·        Graphic Design, computer science, communications, and fine arts majors preferred but not required.

·        Interns will work directly with Teen Oasis Program Director to create and maintain Teen Oasis website.

·        Interns will work directly with Advertising/PR interns to create visually stimulating advertising campaigns for Teen Oasis.

·        Interns will create advertising materials to be used by Teen Oasis.

·        Interns will serve as computer tutors for members of Teen Oasis.
